MIBT and Dar Blockchain Announce $2 Million Web3 Hackathon for Africa with Hedera Certification Requirement

Kitwe, Zambia – The Motley Institute of Business & Technology (MIBT), in partnership with Dar Blockchain (Tunisia), has officially launched the continent’s most ambitious Web3 initiative to date — the $2 Million Africa Web3 Hackathon, powered by Hedera Hashgraph.


The announcement was made during the Web3 Without Borders Info Session held on July 2, 2025, marking the beginning of a transformative North–South African Web3 Alliance:

Successful Conclusion of the First in the Series of Capacity-Building Workshops on Zambia Education Curriculum Framework (ZECF-2023) in Kitwe District and the Copperbelt

Kitwe, Zambia – The Motley Institute of Business & Technology (MIBT), in partnership with Sophie’s Christian Academy, with the blessings of the Ministry of Education – Kitwe District (DEBS) and the Kitwe District Private Schools Association (KDPSA), proudly announces the successful conclusion of the first in the series of capacity-building workshops focused on the Zambia Education Curriculum Framework (ZECF-2023).


Held over five impactful days, the event featured:


Three days (April 28–30, 2025) dedicated to training 44 educators in competency-based lesson delivery, inclusive pedagogy, ICT integration, and values education.


Two days (May 1–2, 2025) focused on 15 Directors, Managers, Administrators, and Senior Teachers, emphasizing leadership in CBC implementation, data-driven planning, and educational innovation.


A total of 44 educators and 15 administrators participated, representing Kitwe district, with some participation both in person and virtually.

Highlights of the Educators’ Workshop


1. Engaging Competency-Based Lesson Planning: Educators were introduced to effective competency-based lesson planning, helping them design lessons that cater to the individual learning needs of students and foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.


2. Inclusive and Learner-Centered Pedagogy: The workshop emphasized inclusive teaching strategies, ensuring that all students, regardless of background or ability, can participate actively in learning. Educators learned how to create environments that encourage collaboration and respect for diverse perspectives.


3. ICT Integration in Classroom Practice: A key focus was on the integration of ICT tools in teaching and learning, with hands-on sessions showing how technology can be used to enhance lesson delivery and engage students in new and innovative ways.


4. Competency-Based Assessment Approaches: Educators explored methods of assessing students based on competencies, rather than traditional rote memorization, to ensure that learners are measured on their practical skills and understanding.


5. Values, Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship Education: The workshop highlighted the importance of values and life skills education, preparing students not only academically but also socially and economically for the future. Educators gained insights into how to incorporate entrepreneurship education into their teaching practices.


6. Practical Workshops and Group Activities: The session included interactive activities where participants could collaborate, share ideas, and practice implementing strategies in real-time. Group discussions allowed educators to learn from each other’s experiences and adapt best practices.


7. Expert Facilitation from Industry Leaders: The workshop was facilitated by seasoned experts, including Dr. Brian Mundambo, Ms. Doris Matanda Kabwe, Ms. Dalile Phiri, and other leaders in the education field. Their practical insights and real-world examples provided educators with the tools and confidence to implement the new curriculum effectively.


8. Certificate of Participation: At the conclusion of the workshop, all 44 educators received certificates of participation, recognizing their commitment to professional development and the successful implementation of the ZECF-2023.


9. Commitment to Ongoing Professional Development: The workshop underscored the importance of continuous professional development and the ongoing support required to implement ZECF-2023 effectively. Educators left with a sense of confidence and a network of resources to continue their learning journey.

The workshop was graced by Mr. Shadrick Sikwese, Education Standards Officer (Special Education and CBC Implementation) from the Kitwe District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) office, who officiated the event on April 30, 2025, and was accompanied by Mr. John Evans Hamishi (Kitwe ESO ODL). Mr. Sikwese delivered the opening and closing speeches on behalf of the DEBS Office, emphasizing the importance of equipping educators with the necessary skills to effectively implement the ZECF-2023. Mr. Sikwese also presented certificates to the 44 educators, recognizing their dedication to advancing professional practice.


> “As we strive to implement the 2023 Zambian Education Curriculum Framework, it is essential that our teachers are equipped with the right knowledge and skills to foster a learner-centered and competency-based education system,” said Mr. Sikwese. “This training is a significant step toward quality education, and we commend this collaboration between MIBT, our partners, and the Ministry of Education.”


Mr. Sikwese also reiterated the importance of public-private partnerships in driving successful educational initiatives and commended MIBT CEO Mr. Fredrick Nonde Jr. for spearheading such a valuable program. He expressed enthusiasm about continued collaboration between MIBT and the DEBS office in the future, with particular emphasis on ICT and emerging technologies integration into the new curriculum.

Commencement of Two-Day Workshop for School Administrators and Proprietors


Following the educator training, a two-day workshop for school administrators and proprietors commenced on May 1, 2025, at Sophie’s Christian Academy. Participants included school heads, deputy heads, education officers, and private school proprietors.


The workshop is designed to:


§Strengthen leadership in CBC implementation


§Promote strategic planning and data-informed school improvement


§Enhance ICT integration in school management


§Encourage innovation in teaching and learning


This initiative plays a vital role in aligning school leadership with ZECF goals and empowering proprietors to sustainably invest in educational transformation. It reinforces Zambia’s commitment to building a dynamic, inclusive, and skills-based education system.

Highlights:


The workshop was officially opened by Ms. Kabeya Mumba, School Manager, and Mr. Francis N’gandwe, Director of Sophie’s Academy, both of whom welcomed and inspired participants with their commitment to transformative education.


Special remarks were delivered by Mr. Fredrick Nonde Jr., Co-founder & CEO of MIBT, and Dr. Brian Mundambo, Curriculum Specialist, setting the national and institutional context for the workshop.


Sessions were led by Ms. Dalile Phiri and Ms. Doris Matanda Kabwe, MOE Trainers of Trainers, covering the structure of Zambia’s New Curriculum and learner-centered approaches.


The day was wrapped up with a reflective session by Teacher Natasha Chikopa, who guided participants in reviewing key learnings.

Empowering Educators for Curriculum Transformation: Sophie’s Christian Academy and MIBT Announce National Workshop Series


Kitwe, Zambia – Sophie’s Christian Academy, in partnership with the Motley Institute of Business & Technology (MIBT), is pleased to announce a five-day national Capacity-Building Workshop Series for educators, administrators, and policymakers from April 28 to May 2, 2025. The event will be held at Sophie’s Christian Academy in Kitwe under the theme: “Empowering Educators and Administrators for Effective Implementation of the New Curriculum.”


As Zambia’s education system undergoes significant curriculum transformation, this workshop will serve as a key platform to equip teachers and school leaders with the necessary tools and strategies to deliver quality education in line with national reforms.


The program will include:

  • Educator Sessions (April 28–29): Training for early childhood, primary, and secondary teachers.


  • Administrator Sessions (April 30–May 2): Targeted sessions for head teachers, deputies, curriculum planners, and education managers.


  • Participants will engage in interactive sessions, plenaries, and practical reflections led by experienced facilitators, with a focus on curriculum integration, assessment, classroom management, and leadership.
