Empowering Educators for Curriculum Transformation: Sophie’s Christian Academy and MIBT Announce National Workshop Series
Kitwe, Zambia – Sophie’s Christian Academy, in partnership with the Motley Institute of Business & Technology (MIBT), is pleased to announce a five-day national Capacity-Building Workshop Series for educators, administrators, and policymakers from April 28 to May 2, 2025. The event will be held at Sophie’s Christian Academy in Kitwe under the theme: “Empowering Educators and Administrators for Effective Implementation of the New Curriculum.”
As Zambia’s education system undergoes significant curriculum transformation, this workshop will serve as a key platform to equip teachers and school leaders with the necessary tools and strategies to deliver quality education in line with national reforms.
The program will include:
Educator Sessions (April 28–29): Training for early childhood, primary, and secondary teachers.
Administrator Sessions (April 30–May 2): Targeted sessions for head teachers, deputies, curriculum planners, and education managers.
Participants will engage in interactive sessions, plenaries, and practical reflections led by experienced facilitators, with a focus on curriculum integration, assessment, classroom management, and leadership.

As part of this initiative, MIBT and DMI St. Eugene University will be setting up STEM labs and Innovation Hubs across the country. These facilities will serve as incubators for learner and tech startup support, providing resources, mentorship, and collaborative spaces for budding entrepreneurs and students. The STEM labs will be equipped with the latest technology to foster hands-on learning and experimentation, while the Innovation Hubs will offer a platform for networking, idea-sharing, and project development.
In addition to these educational advancements, the partnership has also considered arrangements for the upcoming Africa FutureTech Summit 2024. This international conference, scheduled for August 12 to 16, 2024, will bring together tech enthusiasts, industry leaders, and innovators from across the globe to discuss the latest trends and developments in technology.
Moreover, the launch of the Indo Zambia Blockchain Alliance (IZBA) will also take place, marking another significant milestone in the region's technological journey. IZBA aims to foster collaboration between India and Zambia in the blockchain space, promoting innovation, research, and application of blockchain technologies.
The ultimate aim is to collaborate with the government through the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Technology and Science, as well as other institutions of higher learning and collaborating partners. In turn, this partnership aims to develop Zambia into a hub of emerging and cutting-edge technologies, leveraging its strategic geographic location in the heart of the Southern African region. The timing is ideal considering the pronouncement of the digital revolution by the Zambian government, and the introduction of advanced technologies such as Starlink and Google Cloud to the region.
Together, MIBT and DMI St. Eugene University aim to foster innovation, support startups, and provide state-of-the-art educational opportunities to enhance the tech landscape in Zambia. This partnership will concentrate on creating and implementing emergency technologies that address urgent needs and improve the overall technological infrastructure of the nation.
